MID-DAY MEAL SCHEME

Mid-Day Meal Scheme is known as National Programme
of Nutrition Support to primary education. This
scheme was introduced by the Govt. of India w.e.f.
15.8.95. In the beginning, only 18 blocks of Himachal
Pradesh were covered under this scheme. This scheme
was further extended to 30 blocks during the year
1996-97. Now all the 72 blocks of the State has
been covered under this scheme w.e.f. 1.4.97. In
Himachal Pradesh, only rice is being distributed
to the students of primary education @ 3 kg per
student per month free of cost. The Year-wise details
of allocation and lifting of rice under this scheme
are as under :

This
Corporation is lifting the mid-day meal rice according
to the monthly demand received from the concerned
Deputy Commissioners. The Deputy Commissioners raise
the demand to FCI and authorise our Area Managers
to lift the stocks from the Godowns of FCI and further
distribution to fair price shops is made by this
Corporation as per sub-allocation intimated by the
Distt. Administration.
